Pickering sits directly west of our yard, which puts most of the city within a short run along Bayly Street or the 401. It is also the most varied municipality we serve: sixty-year-old bungalows by the lake, brand-new streets in Seaton, and working rural property north of the highway.
Where a bin goes in Pickering tells you a lot about what is going into it:
The lakeside neighbourhoods, largely built out in the fifties through seventies. Driveways here can be short and narrow, which is the single most common reason we talk a customer down a size.
The central suburbs either side of the Liverpool Road and Brock Road corridors — conventional driveways, conventional renovation work.
The newer development above Taunton, plus the rural stretches out toward Claremont and Greenwood where access is rarely the problem and the loads tend to be bulky.
PickeringThe lakeside streets drive a steady stream of renovation work, and it is the kind with real volume behind it: small post-war houses being gutted, raised or extended rather than lightly refreshed. Those jobs produce dense mixed debris from a cramped site, which is a combination worth planning for. North of the 401 the work is different again — finishing waste and packaging from new construction, and on the rural properties, clear-outs of outbuildings, old fencing and brush that have accumulated over years rather than weeks. A job in Bay Ridges and a job in Seaton have almost nothing in common, which is why it is worth describing the work rather than just naming the city.
On a narrow lakeside driveway the honest answer is sometimes that a smaller bin is the right call, and we would rather say so than wedge a 20 into a space it does not fit. No permit is needed for a bin on your own driveway. Where the street is the only option, that is handled by the municipality — confirm it with the City of Pickering before you book the delivery.
Settle the timeline with the booking rather than after the fact — ask about rental length when you book.
Pickering is the closest municipality to our yard other than Ajax itself, and the run is a straight one. The far north of the city — Claremont, Greenwood and the concessions around them — adds time to the trip, so those deliveries are worth booking with a little more notice than a Bay Ridges address needs.
Each size has its own page with capacity, what fits and what it costs.
20 yd
14 yd
10 ydWe cannot take dirt, concrete or brick in any size — here is why.
Yes, including Claremont and Greenwood. The drive is longer than a run into the built-up south of the city, so give us a bit more warning on timing. Access is seldom an issue out there — rural properties generally have more room for the truck than a lakeside driveway does.
Not for a bin on your driveway. A bin on the roadway is the one case that needs the municipality involved, and in Pickering that means the City of Pickering — note it is a City, not a Town, which matters when you go looking for the right department.
The 10-yard is usually the answer on those streets, and occasionally the 14 if the driveway runs deeper than it looks. Measure roughly how many cars park end to end and tell us when you call — that one number settles it faster than anything else.
Yes. New construction tends to want volume rather than weight, which is what the 20-yard is built for. If several trades are filling one bin over a long schedule, say so and we will plan the swaps around it.
Tell us the job and the address and we’ll confirm the size and the day.
