10 Yard Bin Rental in Ajax & the GTA

The 10-yard is the size people order when the job has a clear edge to it — one room, one garage, one weekend. It is small enough to tuck onto almost any driveway and big enough that you are not making trips to the transfer station in your own car.

There is a habit of over-ordering bins on the theory that bigger is safer. For a contained job it rarely pays off: you end up renting air. Ten yards covers the great majority of single-room work with the right amount of margin, and because it has the smallest footprint of the three it causes the least disruption to a street that still has to function while the work goes on.

Right job, right bin

Best for

Single-room renovations

One bathroom, one bedroom, a small kitchen — a defined scope with a predictable amount of waste.

Garage, basement and attic clean-outs

Bulky household material that weighs very little for the space it takes.

Estate and move-out clearing

Furniture, boxes and years of accumulation going at once.

Small deck and shed removal

Boards, framing and panels from a structure you can take apart in a day.

Doing one of these? We have a guide for home cleanouts, yard waste or single-room renos.

What goes in

What fits in a 10-yard bin

Light, bulky material is what this size is built around:

  • Furniture, mattresses and household bulk
  • Boxes, paper and general clear-out clutter
  • Single-room drywall, trim and flooring
  • Deck boards, fence panels and shed framing
  • Branches, brush and hedge trimmings
  • Old appliances and shelving units
Capacity

About 4–5 pickup-truck loads

Four to five half-ton loads is the working figure. Put differently, if you have looked at the pile in the garage and thought it would take a weekend of borrowed-truck trips to clear, this bin does it in one drop and one pickup, and you never have to unload anything at the other end.

Delivery & placement

Easy placement, tight spaces

This is the bin for addresses where space is the problem. It fits on single driveways, in laneways and in spots where a longer bin simply will not turn. The truck still needs clearance to roll it off and a reasonably level surface to set it on, but the 10-yard gives you the most options of any size we carry.

Small does not mean different when it comes to permission. On your own driveway, no permit is required — that holds for every size we run. Putting a bin on the roadway is the one scenario that goes through the municipality, so confirm it with yours first; Ajax addresses are handled by the Town of Ajax.

Short jobs still deserve a clear end date, so treat the timeline as part of the booking — ask about rental length when you book rather than leaving it open.

What we can’t take

One point catches people out on this size in particular: landscaping waste is welcome, but soil and sod are not. Along with concrete and brick, dirt is one of the three materials we cannot take, because the weight is in a different league from everything else on this page.

Questions

10-yard bin FAQs

Why is there no flat rate listed for the 10-yard?

We publish flat rates on the 14 and the 20 because those two go out for fairly predictable jobs. The 10 covers a wider spread of work, so we price it against what you are actually clearing. Call and you will get a number on the spot.

What does a 10-yard bin hold?

Four to five pickup-truck loads. A single-car garage cleared to the walls is the comparison most people find useful, or the contents of one renovated bathroom with the fixtures included.

Can I put yard waste in it?

Branches, brush, hedge trimmings, old fence panels and deck boards are all fine. Soil and sod are not — those count as dirt, which is one of the three materials we cannot take. Clearing a garden bed is fine; clearing the bed itself is not.

Is the 10-yard too small for a kitchen?

For a small kitchen with a straightforward strip-out it can work. Once cabinets, counters, flooring and drywall are all coming out, most jobs are better served by the 14. Describe the room on the phone and we will point you at the honest answer rather than the bigger bin.

Do I need a permit for a bin this small?

No, not on your driveway — size makes no difference to that. The street is the only case that needs clearing with the municipality first, which for Ajax is the Town of Ajax.

When do I book the pickup?

Tell us as soon as you have a date. Bring the timing up at the booking stage and the pickup day can be penciled in from the start, which on a one-weekend clear-out matters more than it sounds.
